As of 2019, Vietnam has 22 million students (out of 17 million from grade 12). According to the General Statistics Office, the total number of high schools in Vietnam as of 2018 is 2834 and expected to increase to 2864 by the end of 2023, along with the proliferation of private universities with the total number of students in 2017-2018 accounted for 18.2%, estimated to increase to 22.5% in 2025 (according to the Ministry of Education and Training). These are the positive signs that startups should pay attention to because expanding school facilities can lead to a shortage of teachers, so online learning models and edtech solutions will be powerful tools to support the school. In addition, the number of office staff using online education services in Vietnam only counts for nearly 5%, which is also a potential segment.
