THPT Chuyên Thủ Khoa Nghĩa

Vào năm 1949, đáp ứng nhu cầu học tập của người dân vùng biên trấn, Tỉnh trưởng Châu Đốc thời bấy giờ là ông Đặng Văn Lý đã làm tờ đề nghị xin mở trường trung học tại Tỉnh lỵ Châu Đốc. Trường Collège de Chaudoc được thành lập. Khi mới thành lập, trường chưa có cơ sở riêng nên trường phải mượn tạm các lớp học của trường Nam Tiểu học Châu phú (Châu đốc).

Niên khóa 1949-1950 trường chỉ có 2 lớp đệ thất (lớp 6). Niên khóa 1950-1951 trường có 3 lớp: 2 đệ thất và 1 đệ lục (2 lớp 6, 1 lớp 7).

Đến ngày 20/7/1951, trường được đổi tên thành trường Trung học Châu Đốc.

Niên khóa 1951 – 1952, trường đã có 6 lớp.

Đến niên khóa 1952 – 1953 trường được vinh dự chính thức mang tên Trung học Thủ Khoa Nghĩa và có cơ sở riêng.

Trường phát triển dần đến niên khóa 1955 – 1956 mới đủ các khối lớp 6,7,8,9.
