As the leading children’s museum in sub-Saharan Africa, Play Africa has developed an agile, low-cost solution to pioneer equitable, high-quality learning through play in Johannesburg, South Africa. In six years of successful operations, we’ve become a globally-acclaimed platform to foster social inclusion and bring families together. We currently serve children, families and school groups from a small facility at the former prison at Constitution Hill, just 15 metres from President Nelson Mandela’s former prison cell. The world is on the brink of a technological revolution. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) will impact the future employment, and employability, of today’s children. For South Africa’s young children to thrive in the 21st century, they must become lifelong learners, with ever-evolving skills to identify and solve problems with creativity, collaboration and empathy. In our current facility, we’ve piloted appropriate solutions to this challenge in a society that is deeply unequal and characterised by exclusion. We are making high-quality playful learning available to everyone – from all walks of life and abilities. Everyone who visits can try world-class experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts and math that are locally-relevant and rooted in globally-recognised educational pedagogies. With a demonstrated track record, world-class financial controls and a realisable strategy for sustainable growth, we are poised to scale and are looking for the right strategic partners. We invite you to join us!
